My old friend Derek Smith has been playing the blues for ages and I kept meaning to catch up but never did ‘til now. Main St Blues is the name of his band, but they put a special show on for the Edinburgh Festival and this year it was ‘Kings Of The Blues’ showcasing the songs of BB, Freddie and Albert King. I’m no aficionado of blues but I think they were great and the addition of the ladies on sax and trumpet, along with their backing vocals, makes the show even better. Catch them as soon as you can!
